A step by step introduction
The Libellus contains the case, which represents the facts of the competition. It is normally finalised and sent to the participating teams around November.
After the Libellus has been analysed thoroughly, the teams start to search for authorities in the corpus iuris civilis. That process takes some time and is necessary to be able to support arguments used in court. That happens after the Libellus was published in November and takes a few weeks.
Once the authorities have been found, the teams will start to find the best arguments to plead their case. Arguments need to be supported by the authorities found during the research process.
All teams will come together in Trier in march 2026.
In the preliminary rounds the teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 universities. Then it is announced which teams will battle in the preliminary round. Each team consists of 2 plaintiffs and 2 defendants. They will take place late march 2026 in Trier.
The best team from group 1 battles agains the second best team from group 2 and vice versa.
In the grand final the best 2 teams battle for fame and honor
The winner, along with the second and third placed teams, will be awarded a fabulous price. There is also a prize for the best speaker of the moot court.
